Department Activities

Distribution of rationed articles like rice, wheat, sugar & Kerosine under Public Distribution System, through a network of Fair Price depots is a prominent activity of the department. The other connected works are-

	issue of ration cards, licences/authorisation to fair Price Shops and whole sale depots.
	supervision of lifting of food grains from Food Corporation of India, kerosine from Oil companies and sugar from sugar companies.
	Settlement of bills of transport Agencies.
	Prevention of Black marketing.
	Supervision of availability of Petroleum products
	Implementation of essential commodities Act 1955.
	Promotion of consumer awareness.
	Training of personnel engaged in TPDS.

Organisational Setup of the department

The entire department in the district is working under the Deputy Commissioner. The Deputy Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs is the district level officer to assist Deputy Commissioner.
