Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS)

The Member of Parliament Local Area Development Division is entrusted with the responsibility of implementation of Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS). Under the scheme, each MP has the choice to suggest to the District Collector for, works to the tune of Rs.5 Crores per annum to be taken up in his/her constituency. The Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament can recommend works in one or more districts in the State from where he/she has been elected. The Nominated Members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha may select any one or more Districts from any one State in the Country for implementation of their choice of work under the scheme. The Department has issued the guidelines on Scheme Concept, implementation, and monitoring. The Department has initiated all necessary steps to ensure that the scheme is successfully implemented in the field. The progress of the works being implemented under the scheme is monitored on a regular basis.

Karnataka Legistaters Local Area Developement Scheme ( KLADS)

With a view to increasing the participation of local people and their representatives in the planning process,which is one of the main objectives of the decentralized planning,the concept of Karnataka Legislaters Local Area Development Fund “KLADS Fund” has been introduced in the State of Karnataka. The Scheme is for providing assistance to rural development through taking a small community benefiting schemes on the recommendation of MLA.

Calamity Relief Fund

The Calamity Relief Fund is used for meeting the expenditure for providing immediate relief to the victims of cyclone, drought, earthquake, fire, flood and hailstorm. Expenditure on restoration of damaged capital works should ordinarily be met from the normal budgetary heads, except when it is to be incurred as part of providing immediate relief, such as restoration of drinking water sources or provision of shelters etc., or restoration of communication links for facilitating relief operations.
